In 1996, Gaurav and his family started to invest in new businesses and today the Burman family have investments in Health Care, Media, Financial Services, Retail, and Education, and have multiple joint ventures with Global Fortune 100 businesses including Aviva for Life Insurance, Espirito Santo for Banking, Bongrain for dairy products, and previously with Fidelity and ABN Amro.
Gaurav manages his family’s investment program, which has an investment portfolio with a value of more than US$1 billion and has been responsible for many of these joint ventures and investments.
Gaurav developed interest in Hospitality sector and has in recent past done multiple investments in the sector. Some of his investments include The Albion Pub, IL Mulino, Tossed, Elephant Taverns and Burman Hospitality which is the sole franchisee of Taco Bell India.
Mohit Burman is the driving force behind the Burman family’s foray into several high-growth and sunrise sectors of Financial Services like Life Insurance, Pensions, Annuities and Asset Management, besides Agriculture, Retailing & Sports.
A 5th generation member of the family that founded Dabur over 134 years ago, Mr. Burman did his schooling from Highgate School, London. He graduated from Richmond College London, in Bachelor of Arts, Business Administration and Economics (Double major: Marketing and General Management) and subsequently completed his Master of Business Administration degree, in Finance.
Mr. Burman started his career with Welbeck Property Partnership London and then joined Dabur Finance Ltd. a company specializing in fund and fee-based financial activities, as Senior Manager. Mr. Burman played a pivotal role in expanding the group’s financial services business into Asset Management, Life Insurance and Pension by setting up Insurance Company with UK’s largest insurance Company Aviva. Under this stewardship, the Burman family also established a joint venture with Espírito Santo Investment Bank to set up an investment banking company in India.
Mohit, later, went to acquire Punjab Tractors, one of the leading farm equipment manufacturers in India, which he eventually sold to Mahindra and Mahindra after turning the company around. He was also the Chairman of Dabur Pharma Ltd, India’s largest Oncology-based Pharma Company until its strategic sale to Germany’s leading pharmaceutical firm Fresenius Kabi.
Mohit’s personal zeal for sports has enabled him to work alongside other equally enthusiastic and dynamic promoters in putting together the formidable Kings XI Punjab team. He has, since then, been very passionate about promoting and encouraging the team for the Indian Premier League.
Mohit has also been actively involved in expanding Dabur India’s presence in the overseas markets, and has also played a critical role in the acquisition of Balsara’s Home and Hygiene business by Dabur India. He sits on a number of Boards including Aviva India, Dabur, Mahindra Forgings.
Mr Burman stays in Delhi and his hobbies include Water Sports, Riding and Theatre.
Saurabh has been associated with the Burman Family Holdings for over 11 years evaluating, executing and managing the investments undertaken by the family.
He is a mechanical engineer from IIT Dhanbad and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. With a rich experience of over 20 years in investment and business management, Saurabh has been instrumental in setting up and building the Burman Hospitality business since inception.
He leads the brand as an Executive Director and represents Burman Family Holdings on the Board of Burman Hospitality and closely oversees all aspects of the business.
He has over 25+ years of experience in QSR & Education industries. Previously, he was associated with Lighthouse Learning Private Ltd, Pizza Hut - Oman and McDonald’s(Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt Ltd.). In his current role, he is primarily responsible for delivering superior customer experience by driving operations excellence across all Taco Bell restaurants in the country.
Biju is a PGPMS in Operations from Welingkar Institute of Management & HMCT form Rizvi College of Hotel Management, Mumbai.
Kunal heads the Marketing function for Burman Hospitality as a Chief Marketing Officer. He comes with a strong 20+ years of Food and Beverage experience across key FMCG organizations such as Dabur, Coca Cola and Nestle across Indian and Overseas markets.
Kunal specializes in Brand and Category building through integrated marketing communication, consumer focused communication as well as innovation. His key responsibility is to drive the expansion plan for Taco Bell in India by leading the brand and business strategy, build awareness for Brand Taco Bell and drive innovation to establish Taco Bell an iconic brand for Indian consumers.
Anagha is an architect by qualification with 19+ years of industry experience. She has worked with brands like DLF & Yum in her earlier stints. At Burman Hospitality, she oversees all aspects of pre-opening as Sr. Vice President – Design & Projects.
Anagha specializes in Design Innovation, and she is passionate about sustainable design that balances the brand identity with local sensibility and focuses on robust business value at the same time. She, along with her team at Burman Hospitality, has been instrumental in bringing fresh new elements to the global design template of Taco Bell restaurants. These innovations and improvisations have now been adopted by Taco Bell globally as brand standards.
Sachin is a seasoned Chartered Accountant and comes with a strong experience of 20 years across various sectors such as hospitality, private equity, ITES, and banking and has previously worked with reputed organizations viz, ICICI Bank, UnitedHealth Group and SAIF Partners.
His key responsibilities include compliance with laws, business planning, reporting and treasury. He has played a key role in defining internal processes and controls within the organization and ensuring financial discipline across the organization.
Prashanth comes with 25+ years of experience in areas of Operations, Real estate & Project Management. He has been an architect of growth in key roles with brands like Pizza Hut, KFC, Eat fit & Cult.
Prashanth is responsible for driving the growth agenda of the brand, defining the strategy for expansion with a motto of building lot more stores profitably. His experience in the QSR segment across operations & business development brings in the knowledge to expand with the right model & identifying brand-building sites in relevant trade areas & markets in India
Samir has over 22 years of experience in Hotel and Restaurant operations. In his earlier stints he has worked with brands like Marriott Hotels and Yum Foods with proven abilities in providing an end-to-end solution for successfully launching new restaurants.
In his current role, he manages Maintenance, Training & People development while driving standard operating procedures across all Burman Hospitality restaurants pan India. He is also proficient in devising and implementing optimum business strategies to enhance restaurant operations and building training capabilities.
Seema Tripathi heads the HR & Admin function as Vice President – HR & Admin. With over 17 years of diversified experience, she is responsible for leading the entire gamut of employee lifecycle management in the organization. She has previously been associated with Café Coffee Day, Devyani International, Crowne Plaza and International Recreation Parks.
